The Non-Metallic Engineers Exchange (NmEx) was founded with a clear purpose: to bring together engineers, researchers, and industry experts focused on advancing the use of non-metallic materials in energy and infrastructure. This community is made possible by individuals and organizations that share our commitment to innovation, education, and sustainable engineering.
Our Founder
Dr. Sadik Omairey
Dr. Sadik Omairey is a Chartered Engineer with the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (CEng MIMechE) and a Senior Research Fellow at the Brunel Composites Centre (BCC). He previously worked as a Research and Technology Project Manager at the Non-metallic Innovation Centre (NIC), contributing to applied research and industry engagement in the field of non-metallics. With a strong background in composite materials, reliability analysis, and digital design tools, Sadik developed EasyPBC, a widely adopted homogenisation tool used across academia and industry. His technical work spans sustainability, recyclability, lightweight structures, and composite joining technologies, with a particular focus on applications in the energy and infrastructure sectors. Sadik is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and a strong advocate for teaching, mentoring, and developing the next generation of engineers. He has co-developed and delivered specialised training programmes in non-metallic technologies and regularly shares his work at national and international industry events. Through NmeX, he is committed to supporting engineers in accessing practical knowledge, connecting across disciplines, and confidently adopting composite and polymeric solutions to tackle today’s engineering challenges.
